I have been in education in different capacities for the past 26 years. I am a wife and we have two adult daughters.  I received my Bachelors in Music from Philander Smith College and later completed my Masters in Curriculum and Instruction at the University of Memphis.  I've also completed my Doctorate degree in Administrative Leadership from Walden University.  My family and I relocated to  Virginia in 2011.  I believe in creating moments with students through conversations and daily interactions.  I teach children how to take ownership of their own learning through hands-on-activities, collaborative discussions and independent inquiry.  I look forward to working with you and your family during this school year.

I am super excited to teach 5th grade at Mary Williams! I have taught for 10 years as a Kindergarten, 2nd grade, ESOL, and 5th grade teacher in Texas and Virginia. I am originally from Russia. I hold a Bachelor of Science in Business and a Master of Education/Instructional Specialist degrees. I am married and have three sons: Nathan, Taylor, and Toby. They are 16, 12, and 6 years old. I love reading, traveling, and watching my boys play baseball.

It is indeed an honor being a member of this dynamic team at Mary Williams Elementary. I am a fun-filled interactive teacher who ensures that students are always actively engaged in learning. This has always been my aim since teaching for the past  twenty (20) years. I am married to my best friend and together we have produced two wonderful children. I attained my Diploma in Education at Bethlehem Moravian College in my homeland Jamaica. I also attained a Bachelors in education at the Northern Caribbean University, with emphasis on Counselling and Social Work. Currently I am pursuing a Masters in Education at Walden University.

As the landscape of education has changed, I am elated to begin my 12th year of teaching and second year at Mary Williams Elementary School.  I am married with two teenage children.  I moved here to Virginia two years ago from Nashville, TN.  I received a Bachelor's degree in Psychology from Oakwood University in Huntsville, AL and a Master's degree in Education from Belmont University in Nashville. I love  working with young people.  It is my purpose in teaching to broaden and enhance a child's perspective and love for learning, helping them realize that education is more than academic.

We're all off on a new kind of adventure in education this year and I'm so proud to be on that journey with you, the students, my teammates and all at Mary Williams Elementary. I began teaching in 2004 after completing my graduate work in Elementary Instruction and Curriculum at George Mason University. Later, I also received a second license in Middle School Social Studies. As an undergraduate, I received my degree from Virginia Tech.

My passion as an educator is getting students to see connections, patterns and commonalities across the curriculum and life itself. Let's get started!
