Divisionwide Announcements
Parents, ask your children about their Explorer Passports
Explorer Passports will be delivered to schools on Friday, May 18. The Passports give children free admission to parks and attractions in Prince William County. Start off this Saturday at the HCHY EXPO at Pfitzner Stadium, 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. View map of activities and schedule of events.

Here is the schedule for the 2011-2012 SOLs. On days your child has an SOL, please make sure:
1. They get plenty of sleep the night before.
2. They eat a well balanced breakfast.
3. You talk with them about the importance of this test.
4. They are not absent the day of their SOL test.
5. They arrive at school on time.
Here's hoping every student at Mary Williams Elementary gets a perfect score of 600 on their SOLs!
5th Grade:
Reading- May 15th
Science- May 24th
Math- May 30th
4th Grade:
Reading- May17th
Virginia Studies- June 1st
Math- June 5th
3rd Grade:
Social Studies- May 16th
Reading- May 22nd & 23rd(This SOL is a two day test)

Fifth Annual Career Day-Volunteers Needed
We are happy to announce our fifth annual Mary Williams Career Day on Friday, June 8th, 2012. We are looking for parents and friends willing to come spend half a day talking with students about their jobs. This is a great opportunity for students to be exposed to the career choices the world has to offer. Information forms are being sent home to parents in thursday folders. Grades K-2nd will have Career Day in the morning and grades 3rd-5th will be in the afternoon. If you are interest in speaking to a class of students, please fill out the volunteer form and return to Ms. Ward by Friday, May 11th. Be sure to mark whether you want to be an AM or PM presenter. Book Swap Cart
In an effort to help promote literacy at Mary Williams Elementary School, SCA is offering a weekly Book Swap Cart. Every Tuesday, the Book Swap Cart will come to grades K, 1 and 2 between 9:00 and 9:15. It will visit grades 3, 4 and 5 each Thursday morning. Students may swap a book from home for a new book located on the cart. There will be no need for money. SCA hopes to use some of the money we receive from the Box Tops program to continue to fill the cart with new books. If you have gently used books from home that you would like to donate to the SCA Book Swap Cart, bag them and have them sent to Mrs. Eckenrode in room 116.
