Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Essay Contest
Each year, the Prince William Alumnae Chapter of the Delta Sigma Theta Sorority sponsors an essay contest in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. for 4th and 5th grade elementary students in an effort to further emphasize the verbal and linguistic legacy of Dr. King and to underscore our belief that our youth have much to say of substance and meaning.  Over 180 essays were submitted by elementary schools in our county. Mary F. Williams Elementary had more essays submitted than any other elementary school in the county. Dominic Davis, a 5th grader in Mr. Rist’s class, was selected as the third place winner for the writing contest. He was presented a gift certificate on January 16th at the Hylton Memorial Chapel, Woodbridge, VA. Congratulations Dominic! A special thanks to all the students who submitted an essay and to the teachers and parents for supporting their child during the writing process.
Arrival and Dismissal Procedures
What happens in the morning once my child gets on the bus? How does my child get on the bus to come home? What if I need my child to go home a different way? Mary F. Williams' arrival and dismissal procedures are listed on our website. Please click here to read them.
Vision Screening
Mary F. Williams Elementary School partnered with Vision with a Purpose and Virginia Commerce Bank to provide vision screening and eye glasses to our students. On Wednesday December 14, 2011 Vision with a Purpose was at Mary F. Williams Elementary School providing students in need with free vision screening and a temporary pair of eye glasses. 157 students in grades KG-5th were screened. 46 students were identified as needing eye glasses and have been or will be provided with a pair of eye glasses. The vision screening was free to the students. Virginia Commerce Bank covered the cost of the glasses.

Boxtops for Education
We all shop for groceries, sometimes two or three times a week –- or more. Now turn those shopping trip into easy cash for your school, and encourage friends to do the same! Just look for the Box Tops logo on hundreds of products like Cheerios®, Hamburger Helper® and Kleenex®, in almost every aisle of the store. All you need to do is clip and send them to your child’s teacher. Each one is worth 10¢ for our school!
